Did you know it's Read-a Romance Month?
It is! All through the month of August, romance authors will be celebrating our genre with info, fun, and giveaways! Check out the Read-a-Romance Month website for full details. In the meantime, the fabulous Laura Moore tagged me to answer some fun questions:
Describe the most daring, adventurous or inspiring thing you ever did:
Oh, boy. The pressure! I'm pretty sure teaching junior high was all of those things ... at the same time!
Tell us about your journey to becoming a writer. (How did you decide to get started? Did you always know or was there a specific moment when you knew?)
I taught writing for years, but didn't actually start my own books until I left my teaching job and was home wrangling infant twins. Sleep-deprived and in search of sanity, I decided to give fiction a try. At least then I'd have some control over my world ... albeit a pretend one!
Tell us about The (or A) Book That Changed
are just too, too many to list! John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath shook my
teenaged, entitled middle-class self to the core, Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings taught
me about courage, Shel Silverstein's Where
the Sidewalk Ends gave me new appreciation for accessible
poetry, and a whole host of romance writers made me realize that
creating happily-ever-afters in a world sometimes lacking them is a
beautiful, proud, worthwhile mission.
